Captain Ben Smith and his wife Brittany came to visit us during their vacation together, while Capt Smith was on R&R from Iraq. He will go back to Iraq in 3 days to finish his 15 month tour, which ends in December of 2008. We were notified of their pending arrival from one of Roberts dear friends, and fellow CSM, Mark Warner. We invited Ben and his wife into our home for a quick break from travel, a cup of coffee and a bathroom break while they were on their way to New South Wales. It was an honor to meet them both, Ben is a fellow Seminole like myself and is originally from Florida and Brittany was a pleasure. We hope to meet up with them again one day, under another social situation. You just never know about the US Army.
Ben did voice an interest in Robert's position here in Australia, when he is tired of it of course. You never know where life will take you! Our thoughts and prayers will be with Ben and the rest of our soldiers and their families during this difficult time. It was an honor to have you both. Hopefully, one day CSM Mark Warner will visit, like he always says that he will.
